# Token Airdrop

### What is an airdrop?

An airdrop is when you distribute tokens for free (or as rewards) to a set of wallet addresses, usually to spread awareness of the new token and reward early community supporters. Airdrops are also often used upon TGE to distribute investors tokens. It saves sending to hundreds of wallets and paying the gas fees, you let users claim the tokens themselves.

### Why do projects use airdrops?

There are multiple reasons why you might want to use an airdrop:

**Wider distribution:** Airdrops help spread token ownership amongst the community, instead of concentrating in a few wallets - which can build community trust.

**Community growth:** Offering free tokens to the community rewards early adopters, building interest and attracting new users.

**Marketing:** Airdrops create awareness and hype, in advance of the TGE when you want to create buying pressure, an airdrop draws attention to your token.&#x20;

**Smooth TGE release:** Instead of a manual distribution, using an airdrop for your TGE tokens ensures all tokens are claimable at the same time, creating a fair and transparent experience.

### How to manage an Airdrop campaign?

With the right tools, designing an airdrop is a straightforward process.<br>

1. **Define eligibility**

Decide who qualifies to receive your token in the airdrop - this could be your community members, early adopters of your platform, users who have completed challenges or actions on your site, competition winners - the options are endless and should be customised to your campaign.

2. **Set up your Airdrop on Team Finance**

Visit app.team.finance/airdrop and follow the steps to set up your Airdrop campaign - it’s been designed to make creating an airdrop possible in just a few minutes. Choose the token for the airdrop, input or upload the list of recipients, and choose the time and date when users can claim.

3. **Announce to your community**&#x20;

A Team Finance airdrop is fully automated, so once you’ve configured and set up your campaign, all that’s left to do is announce to your community sharing the link of where they can claim their tokens - from their Team Finance dashboard.&#x20;

1. Navigate to the airdrop tool in the Team Finance dashboard
2. Connect your wallet and choose the blockchain of your token.
3. Select your token from the list of tokens detected in your wallet, or paste in your token address.
4. Configure your airdrop, choosing a campaign name, and selecting the time and date of the token release
5. Add recipient details (wallet addresses and token amounts) via CSV upload or individual entry.
6. Review the summary of your transactions and grant permission for token use.
7. Confirm the transaction(s) in your wallet.

Once the airdrop is created, the wallets eligible to claim will see their allocation once they connect their wallet to the Team Finance dashboard. When the scheduled time comes, the wallet addresses will be able to claim the tokens.

### &#x20;Airdrop FAQ

1. What happens if some wallets never claim their tokens?

Unclaimed tokens remain in the contract permanently - they cannot be retrieved or reclaimed, so please ensure your recipient list is accurate before creating the airdrop.

2. Can I run multiple airdrops for different groups at the same time?

Yes. You can create multiple separate airdrops based on whatever allocations and eligibility lists you require. This is ideal for rewarding different segments of your community and investors.

3. Where do users claim their tokens?

Users can claim directly on Team Finance. Alternatively, we can provide an Airdrop Widget that you can embed into your own website, allowing users to claim from your platform instead. This feature is not included in the standard airdrop service, so please contact us for more details.

4. What chains can I run an airdrop on?

Airdrops are supported on all EVM chains integrated with Team Finance. You can find the full, up-to-date list on our Pricing page.

5. Can Team Finance support me with creating an airdrop?

Yes. If you need assistance setting up your airdrop or have specific requirements, please contact our team and we’ll be happy to help.
